This week we’re looking at Pack 5 – All and Nothing. This pack focuses on the element of Void. Void is emptiness, no good no evil, but also clarity without preconceptions. It is the Swordsmaster who strikes with no-mind, the Archer who releases at the right moment, the Shugenja who feels the future.
This week FFG announced the upcoming Elemental Events. we’ve summarised their announcement below as clearly as we can. These new events run alongside the existing Kotei system.

Welcome to coverage of the Penultimate Kotei! Houston is the last Kotei before the Grand Kotei at Gencon which ends the season. We have high hopes for this tournament as it is not locked behind a convention. This first pack of the elemental cycle is legal, so we will get a taste of what is to come.

Pack two in the Elemental Cycle is focused on the element of Earth, but, as the name suggests, also features some ‘darker’ cards. We get to see Shadowlands and Mahō cards in this pack, both of which are very playable.
Phoenix dishonor is an archetype that finally seems to be on the rise. Dedicated players have been making cuts in Koteis with it, but I’ve always felt as though the deck lacked a certain edge. However, with Breath of the Kami offering a slew of new air options, it feels like the archetype is starting to fill out and gain an identity. So here’s a breakdown of the build I intend to start testing with from week one of the Elemental Cycle.
